Location Simulator – Mock GPS Usage Access Disclosure (Smart Shield) Last Updated: June 21, 2026
This page explains how and why the App's optional "Smart Shield" feature uses Android's Usage Access permission (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS). Smart Shield does NOT use the Accessibility Service.
1. Service Identification Native service name: SmartShieldMonitorService Permission: PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS (Android "Usage access" setting)
This feature only runs when the user explicitly grants the permission to this App from Android's system "Usage access" settings. The feature is OFF by default. A prominent in-app disclosure is shown and your explicit consent is obtained before the permission is requested. Until then it does not affect any other feature of the App.
2. What the Feature Does Smart Shield is used for one purpose only: to detect which app is currently in the foreground (its package name only). The detected package name is matched against rules the user has previously defined, and the matching GPS location profile is started automatically. When the user leaves that app, the mock location is stopped or switched according to the user's configuration.
3. What the Feature Does NOT Do • It does NOT read screen content, typed text, messages, or passwords. • It does not read any UI element; it performs no actions on behalf of the user (no taps, scrolls, form fills). • It does NOT send usage data, foreground-app history, or any other data to a server. • It is not used for advertising, profiling, or analytics.
4. What Data Is Read Only the package name of the app currently in the foreground is read. No other usage statistic is evaluated or stored.
5. Data Retention The detected package name is not written to disk and not stored in any log file. It is only held in memory for the duration of the active match.
6. User Control The Usage Access permission can be revoked by the user at any time from Android's "Usage access" settings. When disabled, the automatic Smart Shield profile switching stops; manual mock location continues to work as before.
